During my creation of Lakota Daughter, I posted process photos of the painting on Facebook. https://www.facebook.com/JamesLovelessJr/ I was surprised to get a response from Zola Green. Zola is the model you see in this painting. She was very complementary of the colors in the artwork, but she had one revision. She said, "Her ancestors told her that a female of the Lakota nation would wear a plume and never a feather." She also sent me a photograph of the plume she was given during her naming ceremony. I thanked Zola for her input and began to make the change in the painting. By the way, the girl in the painting is really Zola's daughter. The family travels all over the country as Native American models and actors.
