In my younger years, my own grandparents would let me sleep late into the morning. When I would awaken, she would ask me what I wanted for breakfast. My mother would interject, "Don't you spoil that boy!" Then my grandmother would respond, "I'm not spoiling him, I'm just feeding him." She would consistently give this retort if she said anything at all. Now that I am older, I realize the food was just a representation of expressing love to her family.
Perhaps you have stories similar to this about your grandparents. I created this painting to illustrate the love of parents and grandparents for their children. I hope it reminds you of your younger years too!
It is cold outside, but inside an elderly grandmother makes sure her granddaughters have a warm meal. The comfort of a grandmother feeding her two granddaughters is an image that never changes, no matter the time or place. The action of giving food is often translated into love around the world. As we see the family sharing a meal, we are reminded that we have so much to be thankful for, in spite of the challenges that grip our existence today. So many times we forget to focus on the simple things of life. So many grandmothers express their love through food they serve to loved ones.
